TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Payments

Bookings will be subject to the customer/guest:
making payment of the charges in full by debit/ credit card in advance or, providing valid debit/ credit card details via which payment of the remaining balance and any additional charges can be taken. 

If not pre-paid in full at the time of booking, the balance will be charged 72 hours before the day of arrival, using the card provided when making the reservation. 
Once checked in, there are no refunds under any circumstances.

We reserve the right to pre-authorize credit cards without any written approval from the customer.

Cancellations​

Please make note that any cancellations (both total or partial) for flexible bookings are subject to a 72 hour cancellation policy. Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the arrival date and can only be made by email to thewalrushostel@gmail.com. 
 
Where the customer has been offered a discounted rate on condition that the booking becomes non-refundable, and provided the customer has been informed of such condition, in the event of cancellation or modification of the booking, all charges applicable to that booking remain payable in full.
 
Where the customer fails to give sufficient notice of cancellation or fails to arrive (no show), the entire booking will be deemed cancelled, and the customer will be charged the total amount of the stay.

We may at any time cancel the booking if the payment details provided by the customer are invalid and the customer fails to provide valid alternative information.
 
We may at any time cancel a booking if the property or any room in it becomes unavailable due to circumstances outside of our control, in which case we will offer the customer the option to rebook for the future at no additional charge. 

Group Bookings

You will be charged a non-refundable deposit to the value of the 1st night, or 25% for bookings over £2000, after the booking is made. The remaining balance will be required 2 weeks before arrival. 
If your group is arriving by coach, make sure to contact us for information on where to stop and park.    If you do not inform us by email of your group booking we cannot guarantee for your group to be in the same rooms and depending on availability your booking might be cancelled. 
In the event of Force Majeure (governmental action; fire; flood; insurrection; earthquake; power failure; riot; explosion; embargo, transportation interruption of any kind; terrorist attack; acts of God… ) affecting your booking, the company reserves the right to receive any outstanding payments in connection to your confirmed booking. Groups= 6+ people.

​Age and ID Restriction Policy

Please note that under 18 year-olds must be in private/ exclusively booked rooms and accompanied by one or both parents (or a legal guardian over the age of 25) and cannot stay in dorms sharing with other travellers.  Written authorisation signed by their parents and copies of parents ID's may be required. In compliance with Licensing Law, all under 18s will be asked to leave the bar at 8:00pm.
If you booked before reading our age restriction policy and are coming with a person underage, please email us at thewalrushostel@gmail.com to inform us of the situation, The Walrus Hostel reserve the right to cancel any booking done without take in consideration our age restriction policy.

Notice:

If your booking is over £250 The Walrus Hostel may contact you to arrange the payment for the first night in advance.
Failure to reply to The Walrus Hostel E-mail or complete the first night payment if it is required may result in the cancellation of your booking.

Arrivals and Departures

New arrivals can check into their rooms from 3:00pm each day. Guests may arrive earlier and leave their luggage at the hostel but access to rooms will not be granted until 3:00pm (2:30pm if online check in has been completed. Departing guests must remove all their belongings from their room, and leave the building, by 10:00am. After this time guests may make use of the luggage storage facilities, but all possessions must be removed from the room.

Check-In

You do not have to be a member of any organisation to stay at The Walrus Hostel however we do require that some form of valid photo identification is presented upon check in, preferably a Passport, I.D. card, or driving license.


Check Out

Check out is by 10:00am. In the event of a late check out, a £9 fee may be taken from the method of payment provided when booking.


Guest behaviour

The comfort, safety and security of our guests is of paramount importance to The Walrus Hostel. Any guest(s) who, in the opinion of our staff, compromise the comfort, safety, or security of other guests, staff, or local residents will be requested to leave the hostel premises and will not be offered a refund. Guests are expected to respect other guests, staff, local residents and property. In the case of groups, the group leaders must ensure that all members of their group behave in an acceptable manner. Failure of any individual group member to do so will result in the expulsion of the whole group.

Visitors 

For the safety and security of our guests and staff, visitors are not allowed in any part of the building. Only registered guests with a valid reservation can be in the building and rooms.
If you are found to let someone into the building or any of the rooms, your booking will be cancelled and you will be asked to leave without a refund. 


Food and Drinks

Food and drinks are not allowed in the rooms. 

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted anywhere within The Walrus Hostels premises. Any guest found smoking within the building will be asked to leave the premises immediately and will not be offered a refund. A smoking area and ashtrays are provided outside the bar for guests who wish to smoke.


Alcohol and Drugs

Alcohol is served in the downstairs bar. The consumption of alcohol is not allowed inside the rooms. Any guests under the age of 18 found consuming alcoholic beverages, as well as their guardian(s) and other group members (where applicable) will be escorted from the premises and will not be offered a refund. Any guests found with, consuming, or under the influence of  any illegal drugs will be expelled from the premises immediately and will not be offered a refund.

Personal Property

Guests may use the lockers located in their rooms or the luggage storage located on the first floor area to store non valuables. Guests should keep valuables (cash, computer, tablet, electronics, documents, IDs, Passport) with them at all times. Guests should not use the lockers to store valuables. Guests should not leave valuables unattended in the room at any time. It remains the guest's responsibility to ensure that their personal belongings are secure at all times. The Walrus Hostel accepts no liability for the loss, theft or damage to property however sustained or caused. 

The Walrus Hostel Property

Guests will be expected to reimburse to The Walrus Hostel for any damages caused by inappropriate behaviour during their stay at The Walrus Hostel.

Liability

Except in relation to death or personal injury caused by our negligence The Walrus Hostel liability remains, at all times, limited to the value of the services booked, excluding any amendment charges paid to us.

Your Information

The Walrus Hostel shall only store and use information you supply to us or which is supplied to us for the purposes of carrying out our contract with you.


Accessibility

All guests are advised that The Walrus Hostel is a five story building, without lift facilities or handicapped access beyond the ground bar floor. Guests with limited mobility are advised to contact the management at The Walrus Waterloo before considering booking.  Guests should be aware that they may be assigned to a room on any floor of the building, including the top floor. Guests should be aware that they may be assigned a top bunk.


Errors and Omissions

Any omission or error in sales literature, web pages or site, order form, quotation, price list, order acknowledgement, despatch note, invoice or other document issued by us may be corrected by us without liability. We will advise you of any changes at the time of booking or as soon as is reasonably possible thereafter.


Discretion

All bookings are subject to availability and The Walrus Hostel reserves the right to decline any booking at its discretion.
Left or Lost Baggage or Items:
The Walrus is not responsible for any belongings left or lost by guests both in the bar or the hostel. The Walrus may, upon discretion, hold belongings left behind by guests for NO MORE than 3 months, or 90days. Guests who have lost or forgotten belongings may contact thewalrushostel@gmail.com to inquire about their items within this period however The Walrus cannot guarantee the return of any lost
items, as they are not, nor have ever been our responsibility.

Notice

Regardless the website you may have used to make your booking (booking.com, hostelbookers.com, hostelworld.com, thewalrusbarandhostel.com) If your booking is over £50 The Walrus Hostel may contact you to arrange the payment for the first night in advance.
Fail to reply The Walrus Hostel e-mails or complete the first night payment if is required may result in the cancellation of your booking.

Terms and Conditions Regarding Bookings over The New Year Period

  • All bookings made for  dates between 30th of December and 2nd of  January require a NON REFUNDABLE 50% deposit(deducted from total due on arrival).
  • The Walrus Hostel  will contact you to arrange this 50% in advance. Failure to reply the Walrus Hostel e-mails (2) or complete the 50% payment if required, and your booking may be cancelled.2. Any payments date changes or cancellation (full or partial) must be confirmed before 25th December.

Update to our terms

This is a living document and will be updated when necessary to account for changes in the system, market, law, jobs or internal procedures of the company. Walrus inns Ltd/The Walrus Bar and Hostel reserves the right, at its discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of these Terms at any time by posting on our official website the amended Terms. Please check these Terms periodically for changes. Your continued use of the site or Services (bar and hostel) after the posting of changes constitutes your binding acceptance of such changes. In addition, when using any particular services, you may be subject to any posted guidelines, rules, product requirements or sometimes additional terms applicable to such services. All such guidelines, rules, product requirements or sometimes additional terms are hereby incorporated by reference into the Terms.
