Check-In/Check Out
Online/ Self check-in: From 2:30pm (All requested documents must be received before 12:00pm). Reception check-in: 3:00pm - 11:00pm.
Check-out: No later than 10:00am. If you need to arrange special check-in/out hours please contact us in advance.
Luggage Drop Off & Storage.
Guests can use our luggage storage facilities free of charge before check-in, and after check out for £3.00 per bag (all day). Our luggage storage is available from 8:00am until 11:00pm.
What is included in the price of my stay?
We include bed linen, Wi-Fi, printing (only booking and tickets), use of our kitchen facilities, luggage storage on arrival, use of lockers inside the rooms, maps, tourist information and earplugs.

Do you accept group bookings?

What is your cancellation policy?
Please make note that any cancellations, both total or partial for flexible/free cancellation hostel bookings are subject to a 72-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations must be made at least 72 before the scheduled arrival date at the hostel. Cancellations can only be made by email to thewalrushostel@gmail.com.
Where the Customer has been offered a discounted rate on condition that the Booking becomes non-refundable upon cancellation then, provided the customer has been informed of such condition, in the event of cancellation or modification of the Booking, all charges applicable to that Booking remain payable in full.
Where the customer fails to give sufficient notice of cancellation or fails to arrive (no show) at the Hostel, the entire booking will be deemed cancelled, and the customer must pay the Hostel an amount equivalent to the charges applicable to the total amount of the stay at the Hostel.
The Walrus Hostel/Walrus Inns Ltd may at any time cancel the Booking if the payment details provided by the Customer are invalid and the Customer fails to provide valid alternative information.
The Walrus Hostel may at any time cancel a booking if the Hostel or room becomes unavailable due to circumstances outside The Walrus Hostel control, in which case The Walrus Hostel will offer the customer the option to rebook for the future at no additional charge.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Bookings made by e-mail are subject to a first night deposit to be made by credit or debit card. PLEASE NOTE that all deposits are non-refundable.
Can I make a booking without a credit or debit card?
No, if you are not in London. If you are in London, you can make a booking and pay a deposit in person. Please note, When making a booking in person, you must show a valid photo ID.
Can I pay in advance?
Yes, partial or full amounts can be paid in advance via email to thewalrushostel@gmail.com.
I have paid a deposit online, When do I pay for the rest of my booking?
Payments must be made in full before arrival. We will contact you in advance to arrange this.
I need to make a change to my booking, how can I go about doing so?
All changes and amendments to bookings must be made 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date. You can request changes by emailing us at thewalrushostel@gmail.com. PLEASE NOTE THAT if you cancel your reservation, any deposits made to us are non-refundable.
I have not made a reservation in advance, do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, we take walk in guests (subject to availability) however you must be able to present a valid photo ID. Please note, only passport/driver license and national ID will be accepted. We DO NOT accept student cards.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept card payments only (we do not accept American Express).
Why do we need to see your valid ID upon arrival?
We check all guests I.D. Reasons upon arrival for security, and to ensure that bookings are accurate, and that our guests are over the age of 18. Please be aware that We will scan all ID/passports at check-in. If you fail to show a valid photo ID or refuse us to scan it, you will not be allowed to stay.
Can guests under the age of 18 years of ages stay at the Walrus?
We will NOT accept bookings made by those under the age of 18. Guests under the age of 18 may stay in our hostel, however they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian legally responsible who is over the age of 25. Furthermore, they must stay with parent or guardian in a privately booked dormitory. If You have any questions, or if you will be bringing a child under the age of 18 to the hostel, please email us in advance at thewalrushostel@gmail.com
Where can we store our luggage?
We offer free luggage storage for guests prior to check-in on their day of arrival. After check-out luggage storage is available for only £3.00 per bag per day.
Are your beds and facilities single or mixed-sex?
All of our facilities and dormitories are mixed sex, apart from a 4 and a 6 bed female only dormitory.
What if I arrive early than check-in time?
Official check in time is 2:30pm. Guests that arrive early to the hostel are welcome to drop off their luggage from 8:00am, and will also be able to use our bathroom facilities.

Can I smoke in the hostel?
NO. It is illegal to smoke in any part of our hostel. Guests found smoking will be asked to leave the hostel IMMEDIATELY and no refund will be given. However, We have designated smoking areas outside.
I've never stayed in a hostel before, is it safe and secure?
Yes, Although London is a big city our hostel is very safe and our staff take every possible precaution to Ensure it stays That Way. All rooms and the front door to the hostel have a unique security code to enter. Additionally, We have CCTV THROUGHOUT the building, lockers inside of all our rooms (for non-valuables).
If you stay in a shared/private room, you should keep your valuables (cash, electronics, cards, etc) with you at all times inside or outside your room.
I can see your hostel is very close to Waterloo train station, is it noisy?
Our hostel is located next to Waterloo station, making us the closest hostel to the London Eye, Big Ben and a variety of other exciting landmarks. We have double glazing on all of our windows to help shut out noise, and we are happy to Provide earplugs to any guests Who are finding it hard to sleep. We find MOST guests do not notice after a busy day exploring Central London.
Laundry.
We do not operate on site laundry facilities, however there are a couple of options nearby.
Kennington Laundry & Dry Cleaner offer a drop off/pick up service and will provide any hostel guests a discount (20 min walk).
You can also go old school and use the coin operated facilities at Lambeth Laundrette (14 min walk).
